Proposal Making Trump Account Pilot Contributions Permanent Introduced
Representative Young Kim (R-CA) has introduced H.R. 7737, the Savings and Early Exposure to Diversified Securities (SEEDS) Act. The bill seeks to expand the eligible investments by allowing an index comprised of digital assets. Under current rules, Trump accounts must be invested a mutual fund or exchange traded fund that tracks the returns of the S&P 500 or any other index made up of mostly U.S. company stocks. Additionally, the proposal would allow the $1,000 Treasury contribution for eligible children—which is currently applicable to those born between 2025-2028 (the “pilot” period)—to be permanent. The bill has been referred to the House Committee on Ways and Means.
