House Passes Bill Expanding HSA Use to Chronic Care
H.R. 3800, the Chronic Disease Flexible Coverage Act introduced by Representative Brad Wenstrup (R-OH), and co-sponsor Representative Earl Blumenauer (D-OR), passed the House by a voice vote. A press release has been issued by the House Committee on Ways and Means. The bill would allow employers to offer pre-deductible coverage of 14 chronic care health services for employees using a high-deductible health plan. This would enable health savings accounts tied to high-deductible health plans to be used to cover chronic care services before meeting required deductibles.
The bill moves on to the Senate and has been referred to the Finance Committee.
