Jim Gearin
Chief Operating Officer
Jim Gearin is Chief Operating Officer of Ascensus, where he oversees the company’s operations, call center, client service management, trust services, enterprise transformation, and merger and acquisition integration across all business lines. With more than 32 years of experience in the retirement and financial services industries, Jim built his career around driving business process transformations, improving processing quality, and enhancing customer satisfaction. He joined Ascensus in 2019. Prior to joining Ascensus, Jim served as Senior Vice President of Operations and Shared Services at Empower Retirement. Here, he led global backoffice operations spanning financial controls, print and digital fulfillment, fraud protection and audit oversight, and firmwide quality and Six Sigma efforts. He also held senior leadership positions at J.P. Morgan, where he served as Chief Operating Officer for the Retirement Plan Services division, and at Fidelity Investments where he held senior roles across the firm’s defined contribution, defined benefit, and health and welfare outsourcing businesses. Jim holds a bachelor’s degree in management from Lesley University. He is an active member of industry trade groups and participates in policy discussions with key federal and state regulatory agencies.
