With the number of IRA professionals increasing,
a need to establish a high standard of knowledge and competency
was recognized. Consequently, professional certification programs
were established for those people who have IRA compliance and/or
operations responsibilities. These programs, called Certified IRA
Professional (CIP) for credit union professionals and Certified
IRA Services Professional (CISP) for banking professionals, are
a prestigious designation that earns an individual the national
recognition as an IRA professional that has achieved the highest
standard of expertise and excellence in IRA knowledge.
To help IRA professionals prepare to sit for their
